Mobile money
Mobile money you can actually reconcile.
Most customers pay by merchant code, and the business only hears about it by SMS. gitobiz records the transaction ID with each sale, refuses an ID that has already paid for something else, and checks every collection against the statement from the network.
What it does
- Merchant codes at the till
- Choose mobile money and the till shows your MoMoPay or Airtel code, large, for the customer to dial.
- A transaction ID with every sale
- The cashier types the ID from the confirmation SMS. The same ID can never pay for a second sale, so an old or forwarded message is stopped at the counter.
- SMS sync
- An Android phone on your merchant line forwards payment messages to gitobiz. The till lists what has just arrived, and the cashier taps the one that matches.
- Statement matching
- Import the statement as CSV or Excel. Each collection is marked confirmed, amount differs, or not on the statement — the sign of a fake SMS.
- Money nobody rang up
- Payments on the statement that no sale or invoice claims are listed, so a sale made without being recorded shows itself.
- A wallet is an account
- Each merchant wallet has its own balance in gitobiz, built from its own movements and reconciled like a bank account.
Made for Uganda
Built around how business is done here.
- MTN MoMoPay and Airtel Money merchant codes, one per network
- Invoice payments, customer deposits and refunds by mobile money, not only till sales
- Forwarded payment messages must come from the network’s sender — one typed on an ordinary phone is refused
Does gitobiz take the payment itself?
No. Customers pay your merchant code exactly as they do now, and the money goes straight to your wallet. gitobiz records each payment and checks it.
What do we need for SMS sync?
An Android phone with the merchant line’s SIM and an SMS-forwarding app. Each phone gets its own key from gitobiz, and you can see when it last sent a message.
What if a customer shows us a fake payment SMS?
If its transaction ID has already been used, the till refuses it on the spot. If it is new but never reached your wallet, it is marked “not on statement” as soon as you import the statement for that day.
